Open air yoga at Avenue Montaigne

Tänä kesänä pääsin vihdoin toteuttamaan yhden haaveeni, eli joogaamaan katolle keskellä Pariisia. Siitä lähtien kun kuulin Paris Yoga Shalan järjestämistä open air tunneista ravintola Maison Blanchen terassin katolla, halusin päästä testaamaan tuntia. Ongelmana oli vaan että tunteja järjestetään vain kahdella viikolla kesässä, ensimmäisen kerran kesäkuussa ja toisen nyt syyskuussa. Tunteja on myös yleensä vain kerran päivässä aamuisin arkena, välillä myös iltapäivällä joten vaihtoehtoja ei hirveästi ole. Valitettavasti tunnit osuivat meillä monta kertaa lomien kanssa päällekäin ja muille kerroille osui sitten muita juttuja. Tänä kesänä vihdoin onnisti aikataulujen kanssa ja pääsin tunneille molemmilla viikoilla.

Enkä joutunut pettymään, terassilta on ihan mielettömät näkymät Seinelle ja Pariisin kattojen yli Eiffel tornia lukuunottamatta. Näkymät olivat vielä paremmat livenä mitä osasin odottaa ja tunti meni nopeasti maisemia katsellen. Vastapäisestä talosta löytyy myös Givenchyn toimistot, joten ei ollut yhtään hullumpi aloitus päivälle seurata miten päivä lähti siellä käyntiin samalla joogaillen. Iloinen yllätys oli myös lahjapussi joka annettiin tunnin jälkeen, Ritualsin suihkugeeliä ja koivuvettä (joka oli muuten valmistettu suomalaisista koivuista!). Tänä kesänä joogatunteja järjestetään viimeisen kerran huomenna, muuten näkymistä pääsee nauttimaan ravintola Maison Blanchen terassille ympäri vuoden.

I have a thing with rooftops, and yoga. So ever since I heard about open air yoga sessions on the terrace of the restaurant Maison Blanche on Avenue Montaigne, I desperately wanted to try it. The problem is, they only organize these classes during a few weeks in the summer, the first week usually in mid-June and the second early September. After missing my chance to try it a few times because of holidays, pregnancy, baby stuff, fully booked classes, etc etc, this summer I made my mind that I wasn’t going to miss it this time. Booked the class super early, made vacation plans accordingly and hoped it wasn’t going to rain. And it paid off, got to attend a class on both weeks this summer! And I can tell you, it’s a pretty good way to wake up in the morning by watching people start their day at the Givenchy offices while doing yoga.. 

The terrace has amazing views of the city, beautiful Parisian buildings and the Eiffel Tower. They had me at yoga, definitely had me at views but who doesn’t love free stuff? A pleasant surprise was the goodie bags they gave after the class, some shower gel from Rituals and birch water from Evoleum (made out of Finnish birches btw.. yay! ). Definitely going to make a habit out of this! If you’re interested in trying these open air yoga sessions, they still offer some classes tomorrow. Otherwise you can enjoy these views over a delicious meal at the restaurant Maison Blanche all year round. Namaste!
